I want to thank my family, friends, supporters, volunteers and campaign staff for being with me and supporting me on this amazing journey as I ran for the U.S. Congress. During this short campaign period, I had the privilege of meeting many people from throughout the District who shared their hopes and dreams and frustrations with our government with me. I am proud of the positive campaign that we ran that stayed focused on the issues. I was proud and honored to receive the votes of people from different political parties across the political spectrum who believed in my message that our government needs to put problem solving ahead of partisanship and polarization.
I’m extremely proud of the campaign team that we put together from scratch on very short notice within a one-month period. This is the type of campaign that one normally prepares for and executes during a one to two year period or longer. While we came up short on our goal of getting into the runoff, we fared well in a race where we were considered to be an underdog.
I entered public service because of my strong belief that government and elected officials are here to serve the people and our communities. This belief and my passion for public service will always be an integral part of my life and will always be foremost in my mind as I continue to have the honor of serving as Mayor of the great city of Redondo Beach. As Mayor, I will continue to fight for the interests of our City and will continue to hold our State and Federal elected officials accountable to the interests and needs of our citizens.
While my part in this election has come to a close, I am grateful for all of the support and good wishes that I received from so many during the course of this campaign.
With warmest regards and appreciation,
